For over 20 years, Peter has been working in the financial services industry in the specialist area of risk insurance protection for individuals, families, business owners and the self-employed.
Why? If you ask Peter, he will tell you that there is nothing better or more professionally rewarding than being able to assist somebody financially when they tell him life has thrown them a curveball that has affected the health or wellbeing of either themselves or a family member or a business partner.
Ask Peter what the worst experience is in being a financial adviser in the risk advice arena – talking to somebody in the same situation who has no financial support through insurance to deal with what life has thrown at them. It can be devastating to them and to everybody around them, including their business colleagues and employees who can be affected too.
Peter has now been an adviser in this specialist field of risk insurance advice for over 15 years and is still loving what he does. Peter’s clients have had this to say about him:
Steve: “Peter’s help in processing my claims and then preparing me for life after this massive change in life has been superb. I will be forever in debt for his help.”
Wayne: “I have peace of mind knowing that my insurances are in order – it’s the comfort of knowing that my girls are okay, my personal and business debts would be paid, my staff would keep their jobs and everyone still has a future whether I’m here or not. In a personal and business sense I am in a good place.”
One client said to Peter in their regular review meeting “What I like about you Peter is that you are honest and you don’t recommend things that I do not need”.
How Peter delivers his service to his clients is crucial to his success. He is down to earth and personable. He listens. He is honest and truthful in his recommendations. He conducts reviews with his clients when their situations change.
Just as importantly, Peter is there when something goes wrong and goes into bat for his clients when it comes time to make a claim on their insurance. Where other advisers have failed, he has succeeded. In Peter’s opinion, “there is no point being a risk adviser unless you are there for the entire journey with the client, not just taking out the policy to begin with”.
If you ask Peter to describe himself personally, he will say “I’m a fairly simple bloke with a fairly simple life” and not say too much more than that.
That would be inadequate to describe some of his own personal achievements, when you delve a bit deeper. Peter is one of those kind of people who seems to do well in whatever athletic or sports pursuit he takes part in. He can pick up a tennis racquet or a golf club and hold his own with people who have been playing those sports for quite some time. In school he regularly represented his school in several spheres of sport, ranging from First XI cricket to district athletics to his primary passion, football.
Football is big in the Beauchamp family and Pete proudly continued on his association with the higher tiers of football, just like his father before him who represented Queensland in rugby league. Peter was very proud to show his 2 young sons their grandfather’s name recorded on the Queensland rugby league representatives board that now stands near the entrance to the old Lang Park in Brisbane.
Starting in his early school years, Peter was chosen for various junior representative rugby league teams in Queensland. Progressing on to the later years of his schooling life, he was a member of his school’s first XV rugby team for his 2 senior years.
Continuing on, Peter represented Australia on the international rugby union stage by playing in the Australian Under 19’s competition after leaving school and if you ask him, he can show you the scar that reminds him of the test match in which he played against New Zealand at Carisbrook Stadium in Dunedin. He was Vice Captain of the Under 21’s team in which he represented Queensland and thereafter also played in Queensland B representative rugby union.
Now, after playing First Grade at the University of Queensland for many years and until his retirement in 2000, Peter has been the Co-Manager of the current University Premier Grade rugby union team for the last 11 years, enjoying the success of their grand final wins in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2017.
On the home front, Peter and Jackie were married back in 1997 and now enjoy parenting their two “rascal” boys at home who keep them on their toes and keep switching the music up for their regular sessions of air guitar!
